
Autonomous Examination rules and Guidelines
INTERNAL ASSESMENT EXAMINATION
Two internal assessment examinations will be conducted for each paper.
2. Four examinations will be held in an academic session as per the following schedule.
a) 1st – First week of September
b) 2nd – Second week of November
c) 3rd – Second week of February
d) 4th – First week of April
3. Duration of examination will be of one hour.
4. Absence in an examination will mean Zero marks secured.
5. There will be no provision for back paper appearance. But students attending state/national level NCC, Sports, academic and cultural events will be given another chance to appear in a specially arranged examination.
6. For each paper, marks obtained in the best of two examinations will be taken and added to the marks secured in the semester examination for final results.
7. No internal assessment exam shall be conducted for Ethics and Value ( 01 Credit Course )
SEMESTER EXAMINATION
1. Semester examinations will be held as per the following schedules :
a) 1st – Third week of December
b) 2nd – First week of May
2. The duration of exam will be as follows :
a) Theory paper with maximum marks of 80/60 = 3 Hours
b) Theory paper with maximum marks of 40 = 2 Hours
c) Theory paper with maximum 25 marks = 1 Hour ( Ethics and Value )
d) Practical paper with maximum marks of 20 = 3 Hours
3. A candidate will have to enrol for each semester examination.
4. If a candidate enrolled for examination, fails to appear fully or partially at a semester examination, will appear back papers at the time of corresponding examination in the next session.
5. A candidate securing less than 40 % in any Honours paper/ GE/ Compulsory paper will be eligible to appear at back examination.
6. A candidate, not enrolling appear at both the semester examinations of a session, will have to be readmitted into the same class.
7. Two sets of questions for each theory paper for each semester will be invited from external question setters.
8. Theory answer papers will be evaluated exclusively by both external and internal examiners
9. Coding and tabulation will be done internally.
10. The class and distinction will be awarded on the basis of the following-
a) First Class Honours with Distinction : Minimum 60 % in Honours (Aggregate) and minimum 40 % in each subject and 50 % in aggregate in subjects other than Honours papers.
b) First Class Honours : Minimum 60 % in Honours (Aggregate), minimum 40 % in each subject and 33 % in aggregate in subjects other than Honours paper.
c) Second Class Honours with Distinction : Minimum 45 % but less than 60 % in Honours (Aggregate), minimum 30 % in each subject and 50 % in aggregate in subjects other than Honours papers.
d) Second Class Honours : 45 % in Honours (Aggregate) and minimum 30 % in each subject and 33 % in aggregate in subjects other than Honours.
e) Back paper appearance in any of the subjects other than Honours will disqualify for award of Distinction.
1. The malpractice committee comprising five faculty members including one Deputy Controller of examinations will look into the reported cases of malpractice.
2. The decision of the Committee is final and binding.
